Mites: A Summer Horror Poem

The following poem is based on a true story.

Mites

Blood-colored pinpricks

Invisible and everywhere

Miniature mandibles puncture skin

Secrete salivary enzymes

Melt cells from the inside

Microscopic protein shake

Small craters emerge

Pus dripping

Wounds crusting

Scratching steals slumber

Flesh marred with claw drags

Fresh scars and small scabs

Incessant itching infinity
