“Walk the Dog” is a suburban synth punk anthem for anyone who’s ever stared into the abyss, shrugged, grabbed a leash, and carried on with their day.

Equal parts mundane boredom and absurd existentialism, this song explores the strange reality of trying to live a normal life while everything feels slightly ridiculous.

Somewhere between the 1970s and 2070s, Joey Barlow delivers another dose of off-kilter synths, nervous energy, and deadpan observations from the end of civilization.

Maybe the economy collapsed. Perhaps aliens landed. Maybe your neighbor is a lizard person. Doesn’t matter. The dog still needs exercise.

So put on your windbreaker, avoid eye contact with the void, and take a stroll through the fading glow of suburbia. Let’s go!

šŸ• Walk the dog. šŸ“ŗ Ignore the headlines. šŸŒŽ Repeat until further notice.

Armed with a profound indifference to other people’s opinions, Joey finds humor in humanity’s worst instincts and a strange comfort in the absurdity of it all. He’s not angry enough to be a revolutionary and not optimistic enough to be a motivational speaker. He’s just documenting the end times with a shrug and some stripped-down beats.

If you enjoy polished and overproduced pop music… shame on you! Just kidding? Joey writes and records songs in one sitting, first take, keeping the recordings raw and gritty, lo-fi and retro, for better or for worse. It’s like every track could be the last song you ever hear. And maybe that’s a good thing.

The future is canceled. The world is falling apart. But the dog still needs to be walked. Joey Barlow provides the soundtrack.
